ero - Sorry to hear about your disability, it sounds like you still get around well enough to enjoy yourself and your hobbies.?.?

Marko, you should learn to fly. There are some great little airplanes in your part of the world that would make for some interesting flying.

There's a small company around here, very famous.

http://www.pipistrel-usa.com/

Getting the very basic licence here costs about 8.500 US$,
with anything else costing extra (instrumental flight, night flight
etc etc).

I'm sure this is cheaper in the US?

Marko,

(I did'nt check the link but will when I get a good connection to the net. My connection is on and off and at best around 17Kbs.)

Yeah it is much cheaper here to learn to fly. We have a lot of foreign students that come to the states to get their licenses as the it is very inexpensive and the training is excellent.

The last time I checked for one of my sons who thought for a brief second that he wanted to be a pilot, I think the cost was going to be in the 2 to 3,000 dollar range for the basic license. You could add instruments and multi-engine ratings and be out the door for under $10,000.

Later, :D

I wonder if you can get that licence recognized in the EU,
if yes it'd be a worthwhile thing to do. Even including
the costs of staying in the US for a couple months
and the airline ticket.

Yeah, they do it everyday.

You will find some differences in the local rules that need to be covered before they hand you the license but I don't think it would be much more than a handshake.

Check it out before you do it.

BTW, who will be covering the store?

I decided to postopne getting a pilots licence until September, when the
new generation starts with lessons. Simply no time, too much work.

Regarding Isotron, how's that working out now?

Isotron...

Post by erobertg »

:D The Isotron is holding up real well in winter weather. SWR is holding @ 1.7-2.0 and I do get out. Waiting till spring to make final adjustments but I am a little paranoid about getting out too far...

Part 15 antenna?

Post by jbprptco »

Antler, Earlier in this thread you said that "Your antenna guru has an idea for a legal part 15 antenna that has some gain and should be very effective. More on this subject later." Can you please share now? Many thanks, Jim B.

jbprptco,

To be honest that post was made last year, and I have been very busy since then. I don't remember which antenna I was talking about at the time. I think I was probably thinking about Verical Loops with a coil to reduce the size or EH antennas. Be sure to take a look at those antenna types as they work well.

Good luck.. 8)

Well, my wife and I have been building our retirement house out in West Texas. It has taken us just about a year so far to get it where it is today.. I think I will be finished by May if I can find people to do the work. Construction workers are in short supply these days.

All that remains to be done is paint, build a new barn, build 900' of driveway and get access to the internet someway.

Later/ Regards,
