Dog Tracking FM Transmitter and Receiver - Directional?

Post by PigSticker »

Hi Y'all,

I am a software engineer new to electronics. I run a website where we take folks on guided hunts with dogs for wild hogs. We have a need to either purchase a device, or build one, that will allow us to track our dogs. I would rather build one due to my engineering nature. :)

I found a link to this schematic runnin in the 108 MHz range....
www(dot)nrgkits.com/workshop/tracking_transmitter_schematic.htm

I see this might work but doubt it would be usefull because the FM receiver portion would need to be directional. Can anyone point me in a good direction that might help me decide either how to build or buy an FM receiver that would work as a directional antenna?

Thanks,

Jack
