Best Antenna to use?

Post by gamevision »

Which antenna is best to use? We are currently using an open dipole antenna and we have no problems with it but someone told me that A J Pole is much better. Is this true?

Yes, a J-pole is definitely better. Also 5/8 lambda will be better
than a dipole. The main benefit is that it radiates more towards
the horizon and less up in space, this results in better range.

Another benefit is that you have less problems with balanced/unbalanced
conversion, which, if done poorly, could cause rf currrent to flow
on the outer shield of the coax and radiate, causing hum and other
problems.
