Set me up to broadcast college radio

Post by helsnat »

I just moved into a house very close to the college I'm attending (so I could stick a big antenna on the roof if need be). Within a 2 mile radius, I'm confident I could hit most of the surrounding student population.

I've looked at the PCI MAX and it seems very promising, especially for the money (and the ease of use)....so my question to you is: Will the PCI MAX (along with the amplifier) be sufficient to reach the campus area or do I need something more heavy duty? If it is sufficient, what else will I need to complete the package?

Also, is it possible to plug in a microphone and broadcast talk radio (instead of just music?)

Thanks for the help...what a great site!

So in summary....
distance: 2miles
budget: as cheap as possible (i'm a student!)
location: on a house roof...surrounded by lots of other houses, and tall college buildings and apartments

PCI MAX will not cover 2 miles, any of the stand alone FM transmitters
rated at 5-15W will do this with a suitable antenna.

You can still connect their input to the PC sound card and have your tx
automated by a PC.
