AM Max Received and Testing Started

Post by Larry »

This morning at 10:30 AM FedEx delivered my ham radio version of the AM Max. I complete the initial tests by 12:00 noon and found most everything as described. :D

I found that at roughly 14 volts it draws an amp and puts out a cool 3 watts. The heat sink hardly changed temperature despite some pretty long transmit on times. I temporarily drove my Ameritron amplifier on 40 meters to about 75 watts with ease. I will be replacing the power supply and expect to get 150 watts out with little difficulty.

Pictures and descriptions of the testing are at:

Shoot me an email if you have any questions. Email access is right on the AM MAX page above.

Thanks Marko! As you predicted

So how is the latest mod. working for you?

Just send me an E-mail with any more suggestions you may
have, I'll do my best to implement them.

Marko,

I have posted the update on my web site and I thought that I would drop by and give you the latest.

The AM Max flys quite well. Here is an audio recording that I made following the modification that you recommended.

AM Max On the Air Recording!

Please stop by my web page for pictures including the work that I have started on getting the Max mounted in a nice 2U rack case. Here's a link: W9MDX.COM AM Max Web Page

I am quite pleased! :) :) :)

Sounds better than I could hope for, Larry.

Good news indeed. The enclosure looks superb as well,
this will look like a pro unit, for sure.

I'll be implementing your suggestions, I greatly appreciate
your help and so do the others.
Best regards,
