AM XMTR

Post by Rudy »

Wow - I haven't been back for a while, as I stopped doing FM. I didn't know PCS offered AM, which is what I'm into now.

The new unit looks great - I especially like the on-board audio processing. I think you need processing even if you are doing digital audio with a PC, but I hated all the extra hardware - this looks great.

The extra output power could really help my currrent situation - I have no room for even a US Part 15 antenna, and would like to try either using slightly higher power with a very small center or base loaded whip, or try carrier current.

Just wanted to make sure - Does the XMTR work OK for long duration use with poor antenna matching?

It does, but use a small fan to blow across the board.
It does heat up a bit.
Best regards,

What is the relevance of such a question????Would one purposely go to all the bothert of spending money for a TX. then Knowingly operate it into a antenna that is mismatched??These are the kinda questions that i consider toi be rather imbecillic and time wasteing.......Basically someone being a wise a** ..I am trying to filter out all the idiotic requests as opposed to those that are really intended for those who wanna learn.

Whether you all (especially the Jackass..envious minded Pirate Radio Hardware Know it all's..whom have not been able to accept my presence and contributions here in this forum and others) realize that i have been the one that has tried my endeavour best to cover up and make you all "Smell and Look Good" in the eyes of those whom are ready to denounce you all as a bunch of egotistic self centered ingrates.

I hate to sound so Bombastic_Fantastic.....But i know what i know..and i dont have to prove to anyone that cannot deal with that bit of hard crucial fact....I WILL NOT CLAIM TO BE THE ONLY SMART PERSON IN THIS HERE THEATRE OF OPERATIONS...THERE ARE OTHERS WHOM ARE AS SMART OR SMARTER THAN I AM..SO TO SPEAK..BUT BELIEVE YOU ME I CAN EXPOUND IF I CARE TO..IT IS THE STUPID AND IMBECILLIC ONES THAT ARE WASTEING MY TIME AND THAT OF OTHERS.

WHOMEVER THAT CAP FITS WEAR IT WELL...BEING HUMBLE IN THIS SITUATION IS A MATTER OF KNOWING THAT I AM ALL THAT AND THENSOME..BUT STILL BEING ABLE TO LEVEL THE VIBES AND ADOPT THE ADAGE THAT "IT IS NOT HAT I AM SMARTER THAN ANYONE ELSE..IT JUST THAT I PURSUE THE PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS A BIT LONGER THAN MOST WOULD"..IN ORDER NOT TO BECOME A SOURCE OF GENERATED COMPLEXES ON THE BEHALF OF OTHERS WHOM CANT BE HUMBLE THEMSELVES.

Respects..Norm B.

and dont you all ever forget that over $8,000 USD of my Years of Test equipment collection was stolen by some folkas a result of my being too "GOOD AND KNOWLEDEGEABLE"..BECAUSE I WAS ABLE TO SETUP A STATION IN NAPLES FLORIDA..AND AS RESULT OF THAT..THE COMPETITION OR WAR OF THE PIRATE RADIO AIRWAVES..THOUGHT IT FIT TO SLOW THE PROCEEDINGS DOWN BY SUCH ACTIONS...SO AT THIS STAGE IN THE GAME I AM STILL HUMBLE ENOUGH TO UNDERSTAND AND STILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE BEST OF MY ABILITY.

AS I SAID I AM VERY VOLATILE RIGHT NOW...MEANING.MY PATIENCE IS NOT THAT OF JOB..IN BIBLICAL TERMINOLOGY!!!!!!!!

MY PATIENCE IS RUNNING VERY THIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Postings on the other pirate radio site.(Sotris's)
http://www.geocities.com/endfire247array/tower-wieh.jpg This is the tower at WIEH In Rural HAITI..Folded Dipole Visible along with Guy wires and a Inverted VEE for proposed AM Broadcast on 1320AM.

WIEH http://www.geocities.com/endfire247array/wieh.jpg This is a typical operateing environment ..DUST..24/7 HARSH ENVIRONMENT http://www.geocities.com/endfire247array/dust-cover.JPG Hence one reason why inaddition to proper ventilation(which can be counter productive..Fans hastens the dust accumulation) This is another Radio Station in Rural Haiti http://www.geocities.com/endfire247array/tower_hill.JPG On the way up to WIEH we stopped there to checkout the Hardware, they were running a 500W-Armstrong design at reduced Power..Blown BLF278 POWER AMP STAGE..Upon opening the cover found a thick layer of red clay dust..What happens is that the "Clay Dust" becomes Damp and become conductive to RF and begins to conduct..setting up 'eddy' currents etc.and before too long the Final Transistors is blown..even with the Shutdown/foldback features inherent in the design.Another Major contributeing cause to failure is that of the AC LINE POWER..Voltage and frequency fluctuations from the Delco used to power the station..I have measured frequency fluctuations on my Fluke meter anywhere from 52 Hz to as High as 70Hz.. on the AC LINE FEED..

Here is a JPEG of a Veronica Pll http://www.geocities.com/endfire247arra ... overed.JPG Red clay dust..Hence one of the reasons why i have indicated that a No tune SUBASSEMBLIES are more reliable alternative for Haiti and other countries similiar in terrain and operateing conditions...Here is a view of the Coast and tower guy wires that i took halfway up the tower
