PCI Max Hi/Low Power setting

Post by Glyn »

I've just bought a PCI Max, but the power output seems very feeble. Even a radio just accross the room about 5 metres away has lots of hiss even when using a quarter wave dipole antenna. I guess I could switch to mono and extend the range, but that defeats the reason why I spent so much on a stereo transmitter.

The web site mentions a hi/low power setting, but there is no mention of this in the instruction manual, and I can't see any obvious jumpers.

Anyone know if there is a high power setting and can tell me how to set it?

Unfortunately nobody knows what is happening!!!!
PCS-ELECTRONICS say that a kit bought directly from them
will come as defult on max power 100mw.
Alot of websites including this say it is adjustable with jumpers.
i have no idea what the f*** they are trying to say but ill give
them a call tomorow and let you know any way!!!
Oh by the way you might even hear people saying about adjusting it
from 100mw to 20mw i dont think they have a bloody idea what
they are talking about because if they did they would have replied to
many of the posts that have been posted about this subject in fact
too many
you might want to have a look at the post on this page
HOW DO I KNOW???

PCXI Max Power

Post by Glyn »

Thanks - let me know what you discover. I guess if it's alredy on max 100mW power, then I need an amplifier. I reckon I only need half to 1 watt max, but I haven't seen such an amp at a good price yet on the internet anywhere. Surely it should be pretty cheap as it's still low power (I don't wnt 5 watts - could get too much of the wrong attention!)

Hi glyn :)
:-? the pci max ultra new verion the one you have and i have and most
new people in this forum has no settings it the old one that people
still cant get over it and confuse the others.
:P as for the amp you spoke why dont you get a 5watt power booster
and run it on low - this will be 1watt it has two swiches on it that one is
the power and the other a selection between full 5watt and low 1watt.
