Hello there,
I have recently purchased a PCI MAX 3000+ and would like to know what the 4 LED's near the pre-emphasis jumpers are for? I was wondering if they are the limiters on the card kicking in. If this is the case then what is the indication for setting maximum modulation via these indicators?
Also do you remove the 2 jumpers for pre-emphasis to diasable?
Nick
PCI MAX 3000+ What are the 4 LED's for?

Hi, these leds are limiter indicators, you are correct.
Yes, remove both jumpers to disable pre-emphasis.

I have set the audio level on the PCI MAX so that these LED's flicker occasionally on music peaks. Is this the correct way to set up, so that the limiters on the card do not over process and affect the sound quality?
Also turning off pre-emphasis on the card and using pre-emphasis on Breakaway processor gives a much nicer high frequency response. It really does sound nicer than commercial radio stations who's compressors have maxed out loudness.

Sounds about right indeed.
Yes, a good software sound processor could have better pre-emphasis than on-board which is why we give you an option to disable it (remove jumper).
PCI MAX 3000+ does indeed sound very good. I personally like it much better than any previous pci max we had. Besides, the final transistor is very rugged and we had zero final failures reported so far.
