I have no experience or knowledge regarding transmitters or antenna types.
Lots of useful info here:

Some cheap ready built options are available here:

Directional antennas offer most range, but in one direction only.

BTW, if you use external power supply your range increases.

I'm sorry. I thought I was addressing the site administrator, but your problem is more important than mine right now. Do you have your speakers plugged in to the pci max card and the speaker in jack on the computer? I had to use a y splitter on mine. No reply necessary. I had to use the 2005 software also before mine would work.

mine will only work with the 2004 software for some reason.

and i've not tried a splitter directly into the card, let me try that as well.

Have you tried your car radio to see if it's broadcasting to the selected station? I tried getting the signal on a radio in the house and couldn't pick up anything but it's loud and clear on the car radio. the radio in the house doesn't have the digital display so I wasn't sure if I was on the right station or not but never picked anything up except, like you said, static.

all of the radios have digital displays...i've selected 97.100MHz, but just static comes in.

I assume you've tried the 2005 software since you said that the 2004 software was the only one that worked. The program kept freezing when I installed the 2006 software. When I uninstalled the 2006 software I also uninstalled the driver in device manager. After you restart and Windows recognizes the new hardware make sure you pick the location to install the driver from is in the C/Program Files/PCI Max folder.

Yes I've tried them all, I had 2006 installed, but did not do anything, only is working with the 2004+ version, the program knows the card is there and opens with no errors.

but for some reason there is no sound, i'm currently scouring the web for an alternate driver.

We are the only manufacturer of this card, where do you think you will find
the driver? I think your driver is not installed correctly. Uninstall all your
drivers, clean the pci of any pcimax***.inf files and install 2007+ driver.

By the way, if an error message pops up when you use program that is not
program freezing. Program freezing is unresponsive program (or operating
system).

You purchased a card that is not manufactured for 3 years now. That is why
they sold it to you so cheap, it is outdated. Get 2007+! I offered you nice
discount.

Motherboard probably doesn't like the pci chipset on the card.
It was happening with 2006 from time to time.

Well, you could get the LCD module and use it outside the PC,
that is one workaround:
http://www.pcs-electronics.com/2007-acc ... p-831.html
Big LCD control board (stand alone)

2007+ would work, that's another workaround :)

now i know this card is doing something because it's causing interference with other devices, cell phones, wireless devices, wireless mouse, and more.

so it's gotta be a software issue. any more ideas.

Read above, I'd try the LCD module.
