Real Time Software

I'm looking for some kind of realtime audio software. I want to run an external sound source into my cpu's audio card and then EQ (compressor gain ,limiter,etc) it with software and also broadcast the same signal with the pci max.
Is this possable?
Can I only play pre-recorded material?
I now use Cubase Wavelab 4.0, which is great for pre-recored mp3's and such. But like I said I want to send a Live signal through my CPU, gain it etc, and broadcast it.
Please any help would be appreciated . :)

Hi,
I use LineIn input plug-in for winamp to run sound from my mixer into my audio card and Sound Solution Multiband Processing
plug-in for winamp.
You can downlod LinIn input from http://home.hccnet.nl/th.v.d.gronde/
and Sound Solution from http://www.zii.it/tms
