just finished installing my pcimax and 15w booster....

hello i just finished installing my pcimax 07 15 watt booster and gp87 antenna......i got some fair transmission.....sound isnt too clear have a bit of range but i beleive i have a problem the 15w booster has the swr built in it shows nothing not even 1 led lights up? is there something wrong i bleive as stated in the manual i should have atleast one or two light up....will try diferent cable and see if thats the problem.......any ideas..............

Less squares means better SWR. You should be happy in fact and celebrating,
not complaining :)

The manual says that 2-3 squares lit does not mean you have a problem, but
if you have less it is even better.

ahh i see................then im off in a good start......th big problem i have then is that my audio is really bad quality... i have good signal reach but really bad sound quality then....alos when y select it to send in stereo it really sounds horrible.........

Something's not setup right than.

You're likely over-modulating it.

how do i resolve the overmodulating? and how do i check this.............

Don't feed too-laud audio to the pcimax card, pull the volume trimmer down.

Unless you're using audio processing software you shouldn't be sounding
as loud as other stations.

Another thing to consider is that the audio input impedance of the transmitter
is 600 ohms. Some low-level outputs from sound cards have a problem with this
and it manifests as somewhat lacking bass. Try using another output on your sound
card or connect the output to the phone output on your speakers.
Any output capable of driving headphones will easily drive the input and so will most
line outputs.

Its also always beneficial to use external power supply for the PCI MAX ULTRA - PCI MAX 2007+
cards as that guarantees higher output power and cleaner audio.

ok ...i see. i am using sam software......i have a good power supply for the 15 watt booster, so as i understand if i put a power supply to my pcimax it wll help...i will trya that also......thanks...........will post results...........

i just ran across a 15v up to 20 amp voltage regulator from my fathers base station he used to have....do you think i can power poth the pcimax and booster form it? will this give me better results or am i better of powering up the booster only from this? what do you recommend.........
