Preemphasis problem SE4+ |
|
After building my SE4+ in a cabinet i did some testing and found a disturbing bug in the control of the DSP...
When i switch preemphasis to 50uS the whole! amplitude is amplified and in such a way that the sound gets distorted!
When i switch to *off* or 75uS there is no problem...
I tested it with a 400Hz and 1000Hz tone (to be sure that i'm not in the preemphasis amplify curve!)
You can here that the DSP does the switching in two steps, when switching to 50uS the 400Hz tone gets distorded switching it to 75uS or *off* the tone is good again...
Is there a solution for this?

A bit less input drive or set compressor accordingly.
Se4000 now also has an additional limiter at the end of audio chain.
