OB Van?

Post by whiplash »

Hey everyone,
While I wait for my replacement transistor (cable and mice, don't ask! ), just want't to ask a few intersting questions that I have been thinking about for ages.
The first is probably the hardest:
Has anyone had any experience with an OB (Outside Broadcast) Van. No station here has that feature but I think it would be awesome to get a few mates together and do up an old van.

I have seen the OB vans in the city. They have two fairly long yagi antennas on the top of the van. I'm guessing one is for audio and control back to the studio and one is for audio monitoring from the studio? As usuall I'm looking for a cheap way of doing it, so maybe utilising the 2.4 ghz wireless spectrum using some sought of streaming program (shoutcast?) and i'm pretty savvy with visual basic, so I could build a control program for a laptop or something in the van (even remote desktop).
I would love your input on this project!
Thanks in advance
Curtley
