range

Post by sealerman »

I see that some have said that they get somewhere like 5 miles range with the am transmitter.. I need to ask is this with a car radio or a portable radio? Ive worked with other transmitters and I can hear the station about 5 miles away. but with a portable radio I can only get about 1/2 mile range. What kind of range could I expect to get with the AM MAX II DSP and an isotron antenna on a portable radio? I know range isnt typical on every installation but if I could get more thatn 1/2 mile on a portable that would be great.

Thanks
Terry

I suggest searching the forum and reading the reports of use with Isotron antenna.

It may be good to contact those who experimented with this directly.
