Post Lack of ethics in the world Reply with quote
By the way, you guys might be interested in this nice story.

A certain Czech manufacturer tried to use our forum to
libel our RDS MAX. Theirs is supposedly more modern.

I don't quite agree, I think they're both good. Ours has its
good points and theirs has some good points. In fact they're
using a what, 3-4 digit D/A to generate carrier. Imagine what
a 3-bit sound card would sound like

But I would not go that far and post obscenities at their website, even
if they dared to have a forum. There is something like common
sense of decency and civilization in the world.

Of course I deleted their posts. I would not write this, but they really
pissed me off today. They're sending spam to our email and generally
acting like real assholes.

On top of things, years ago I asked them if they wanted us to resell
their RDS encoder and they flatly denied us. So we developed ours.

I really don't see the problem?!?!

Anyway, this is the spam source: ui201p15-lps.civ.zcu.cz
Note cz (czech) at the end?

i thought it was like s sub carrier that was send out and a low pass filter picks it up on the receiver and the radio displays the info, and was used for telling the listeners information without having to wait for the DJ to say the station name etc...

Storminorm, it's Radio Data System; a subcarrier (just like the stereo tone) that makes it possible to transmit data messages to the receivers. The data messages can be station ID, but some stations send which song they play, temperatures, commercial announcements etc. RDS also gives the possibility to tell the receiver which other transmitters in the area the station you listen to transmit at. I.e. if I transmit at 107.9 MHz and have a slave at 100.8 MHz and the signal from the 107.9 transmitter gets weak, the receiver automatically will compare the signal strenght with the 100.8 transmitter and changes to that if it's stronger. RDS is also great if you DX. No more messing with frequency lists that aren't updated... You have the station ID directly on the display. Pirates near borders can also use RDS fooling the authorities that it's a station from the other country, i.e. a German pirate could send an RDS message in Czech or Polish and fool the German authorities that it's not a German station or pirate.

Looks to be good then so should be downloadable shortly then, i presume, or what we will only know what it can do by the end of the week. Also a quick question i am using a stereo coder, i beleive it is a crystal set on, on something like 19Khz or something, no idea, but when i run stereo, and have treble, well a level that i want to run, it cuts off the RDS, the stereo is ok, also i can hear the rds carrier when i have stereo on, but not when i turn the stereo part off, the treble problem isn't something i get when i run the station just in mono, and turning the stereo off to listen can be done on my stereo, and seems to cut out the RDS carrier sounds that i can hear, is it me hearing things, or do i need to change something, or sould this be the case? not heard this on other radio stations although granted they are running higher grade equipment. Just thought i would ask you guys see if you know what i am trying to say..?

Hello!

This is the last call for any suggestions and bug reports for
our RDS MAX 2.0 last driver, please email me directly or use
forum to submit any suggestions or ideas.

We expect to finalize this driver by the end of month or even
sooner and release it to the public.

The link to the driver and some bug fixes are in the top post
