Directional log-periodic wideband antenna |
|
Is it possible to use 2 Directional log-periodic wideband antennas and use a splitter to feed both antennas from one transmitter?
---/---/--/---/-- ||-----/--/---/---/--
This way you can get 6db gain in all directions. Also when you split the cable and say you have 6 watts from the transmitter, does the signal split to 3Watts for each antenna?
Thanks

Signal splits two ways, of course.
It is important at what distance you mount antennas.
Each yagi/log dir. antenna radiates back, too, and you want
to make sure that back radiation is in phase with the other antenna
so they're not calcelling out.

So the 2 antennas cannot be mounted on the same pole I presume because they will be too much near each other. How do you make sure that both antennas are in phase with each other?
Do you think that a 5/8 wave FM omnidirectional antenna will work better than the idea i proposed here?
Thanks

Well, it will still work.
The backward radiation is attenuated compared to forward rad.
so it'll still work.
I never tried anything like that, it would definitely work, but
you might have to experiment a bit with positioning to get best
range.
