So, I'm just wondering if a J-pole design like the blue one found on your page's guide section at: http://www.pcs-electronics.com/en/guide.php?sub=antennas

(I think it is a 5/8 design)
is any better than a lambda design also of 5/8 proportions.

I've also read that little gain results from larger proportioned antennas such as a 5/8 or 1 wave design when compared to smaller 1/4 and 1/2 wave design dimensions. Is this true? Furthermore, is there any appreciable gain between using aluminum in place of copper throughout an antenna?
