How large should the tuning step for PCI MAX 2005 be?

100KHz is more than enough, no station falls inside 50KHz anyway

I just have to have 50KHz

50KHz would be nice, but I don't really need it

50KHz step PCI MAX?

Post by pcs »

One of our customers just asked for tuning steps
for PCI MAX 2005 to be reduced to 50KHz.

It requires changing the driver.

I've decided to put it on a vote.

So, do you think 50KHz is usefull or is a 100KHz step
enough for you?

You know in USA (or where ever you live :) the contitions are not the same.

Here in Greece things are very difficult because of the huge number of radio stations. 50 kHz step here is not only essential is a must.
So please consider that it's required to some places the freedom o step!!

p.s i think in u.s there are fixed step radios at 200khz or 300khz is it true ?

In the US it goes like 95.1 95.3 95.5, that's 300khz steps. The UK and such use 100khz steps, like 95.1 95.2 95.3... They don't do that in Greece?

As far as radios sold in the states, most cheap ones are in 300khz steps, some of the higher-end (like in home theatre recievers) let you fine tune them in 100 or sometimes even 50khz steps.

LOL

Here in greece all radio from the one that you will pay 2 or 3 euros to the hi-fi component radios they all tune with 50khz step (more expensive and special need radio the can tune with 1 khz step!!!) i thing we are following the ccir (wow a little search on the net showed that it's been replaced by another committee) :-? :-? :-? . Anyway the 50khz is not a problem at all here in greece (but can help a lot in big cities like Athens with many pirate radio stations :) :) ) the problem is that you can not transmit at any frequency in the band of 87.5-108 mhz (unfortunately the goverment has not declared a small range inside this band for ham radio stations :( but they are working on that i've heared :) )

50KHz is just a matter of driver, since pci max supports 50KHz
steps. For example, PCI MAX 2005 with RDS supports 50KHz,
if you use LCD module to control it.

LED module only supports 100KHz since display is 4 digits and
there is no place.

Next pci max driver will support 50KHz.

I live in Athens, Greece. Here you can hear lots of stations (even on the same frequency!), there's no space in the FM band. So 50KHz step is very useful for fine-tuning near other stations
