Monitor Output Connection?

Post by deeeirl »

Hi all,

I used to be a member here a while back, but cant remember my old login details lol.
I Just have a quick question regarding the monitor output connector on some of the PCS FM Transmitters, What is it?
Is it an MPX output for analysis? or just an audio output?

And, is there a suitable heatsink available for the BW 300w Pallet amplifier by any chance?

Thanks

The MPX output is at the back.

Monitor output is a small sample of your output signal. It can be used to connect various measuring apparatus, such as frequency meter, modulation analyzer, spectrum analyzer etc.

It is, as you see, to be used for monitoring, hence the name.

A nice heatsink is listed here:

It can be used for BW pallet.

Ok, that does makes sense :D Thats a nice feature indeed!
Is that feature possible with the kits also? or is it a bonus feature of the boxed unit only?
Also, the MAXPRO 4025+ 25W QSonic, when you say it has a completely flat frequency response, is that all the way from 20hz-75khz?
That Heatsink is perfect. Thank you!

Yes, 3000+ and 4025+ both have monitor output. You have to solder coaxial cable there and it can go all the way to the connector that you place somewhere on front panel.

Yep, excellent crystal clear low noise audio indeed. PCI MAX 3000+ and MAXPRO4025 both have this new PLL/VCO (QSonic).

That is really cool indeed!
I just got my Pll pro 3 back up and running again last night, but I think I might go for one of the 4025 Qsonic's!
Always had an issue with the VCO setting and frequency response to be honest. It was a good Tx and served me well over the years,
but the more I look at the 4025, it seems like the way to go now!
Thanks again!

Even 3000+ is a great improvement, but of course 4025+ takes the hat.

We will be describing building several configurations here:
http://www.pcs-electronics.com/guide_makeyourown.php

It is a work in progress, will take a week or two to be entirely complete.

We'll start with 25W, than continue with 300W and maybe even 1000W or 2000W.

Thats looking pretty cool alright! I will keep an eye on that, very handy indeed!
Out of curiosity, how would you compare the 4025+ to the BW PLL+ in terms of performance?
I have heard great reviews over the years, but I am starting to think that its a little outdated now. What do you think?
Thanks again,

Same sound, but ours has more features, such as reading power from external dir. coupler and others.

And we have flat sensitivity across entire FM band from 87.5-108MHz.

By the way, this unit also features QSonic PLL/VCO and same sound as 4025+,
it also has digital audio streaming inputs and mic input.

PCIMAX3000+ has the same thing. There are now three products with it. Eventually
it will be expanded to 3000+ as well.

Ok, I see what you mean, I like the Flat sensitivity across the frequency range and the fact that its 25w also rather than just 1w, makes it much easier to match a high power amplifier. I dont want to be too nosey, but what exactly is the "Qsonic PLL/VCO" subsystem and how does it differ from the normal PLL/VCO system? I do like the quality and layout of the board I must say, top class!!

QSonic is our VCO/PLL system, its in that metal can.

Check this out:
http://www.pcs-electronics.com/350w-amp ... -1728.html

This amplifier box plugs right into max pro 3000+ or 4025+ and it will enable max pro 3000+ or 4025 to read output power, temperature, swr and everything else from the amp. In fact you can mount the exciter on the top, there are pre-drilled holes ready to take the board with M3 thread. In fact you just need to add 48V power supply as the 15V is generated inside the amp box. So this makes for a very compact 300W transmitter :)
