How old is the unit?

It could be high SWR/poor antenna.

Is there error message on the LCD?
Best regards,

Those units had temp, swr and pll lock protection.

Temp and swr normally show error message as well
as drop power.

Pll just shows red light and output power drops.

One way to test this is to disconnect audio. If than the problem
dissapears it is the PLL unlock protection. A fix is easy, you can
either reduce audio level or disable this protection.

If you want to disable it just drop me a message and I'll send
instructions.

PLL protection is more robust in new units and you'll never
encounter this problem there.

Hello

The fault light comes on without the audio connection.

Its probably overheating than. New units also show warning
on the LCD, but old ones may just turn on that red LED:

One way to go around it is to take care of better cooling.
How is the fan doing? Any dust to vacuum off?

Hello,
thanks for your reply, it is definitely not over heating.. I read your email and turned the unit on, it took less than (45 seconds) to show fault light! (the unit is clean, its basically brand new, no dust anywhere)
This indicates that it is another problem. As stated in an earlier email, it has always shown this fault light and never allowed transmission for more than 20 minutes (max) without cutting output?

Thank you

It can't imagine it being anything else but temperature.
There is trimmer inside these old units that sets protection
sensitivity. CHeck the manual and turn that trimmer.

Just make sure it does not over heat, you have basically
disabled protection.

Make sure the fan is running nicely and your antenna is tuned.
