Amplifiing 433Mhz signal?

Post by Rplink3r »

I found an old Benefon system, which has a big amplifier module for 400-440Mhz,
the module is MHW720A1, now i have a question if it is possible to connect this module to amplify the signal of a 433Mhz digital transmitter?

MHW720A1 datasheet:

Transmitter datasheet:

Not recommended.

One reason:
433MHz modules (receivers) are quite crappy and you've got hundreds of these units nowadays
in everything from wireless car keys, remote control thermometers etc etc etc.

What you'll do is wipe out all of these in considerable range. Those on your channel and all neighboring
channels (due to crappy receivers). You will eventually attract attention of those who could put you
in your very private room with metal doors. Comes with a hefty price tag, too.

So be smart and avoid this.

if you do not exagerate with output power, yes, maybe.

I wouldn`t. But i don`t know how to connect the module and the amplifier ? Impedance matching? Output attenuator ?, if i buy 0,5W transmitter module maybe no impedance matching ?

I don't believe that tiny thing produces 0.5W, maybe 50-100mW.
Make sure your amplifier works with such low drive signal. If this
50-100mW is too much, use attenuator.

And use a low pass filter on the output!
