CYBERMAXFM+ 15W FM transmitter -vs- XXX from R

Post by solarix »

PCS Newby alert....

The R FMXXXX has been just OK for a couple of years with a lot of mods, I want RDS, great sound and to stay out of trouble.

Again the most important needs are;

1. Out of trouble
2. Commercial quality sound

I have 32 band stereo EQ, Aphex Dominator II 720 already and an Aphex 320a on the horizon for processing. Will the CYBERMAXFM+ 15W FM transmitter model D exceed the R FMXXXX sound with the Aphex pair? This is used mainly for my Christmas light show but I also transmit most of the year, the neighbors who have "discovered" my frequency listen in their garages/yards and I have had no complaints but I know the R FMXXXX @ 1 watt is probably going to be a problem 1 day.

The CYBERMAXFM+ 15W FM transmitter will live at 1 watt or less, while a waste, will this be a problem?

Please not a flame war :)

Thanks in advance.

You can't really compare the two, your thingy uses the dirty Rohm IC,
which can't be cleaned with any low pass RF filtering since it contains
spurs close to the carrier. That's your trouble right there.

Cybermaxfm 15W fm has a really sharp DSP low filter filter, compressor,
limiter and also XLR balanced inputs, it should work pretty well for you!
