Problem with PCI Max Output

Post by lowga »

I know it's difficult to troubleshoot remotely, but here goes.

My PCI Max 2006 card with RDS daughterboard has always worked great. Recently, I upgraded to a new computer and reinstalled the card in it's new home. It works fine with the drivers, including RDS. But there is one new problem.

I've always connected my card to an external 12VDC power supply for greater power. Now when I connect the supply, there is no change in signal strength. Also the Red LED does not light up when the supply is connected.

I've checked the obvious things, insuring that 12VDC is really present, power supply working correctly, etc. Any idea what the issue could be? Are there any simple fixes that I could try short of shipping the card back for repairs?

Any help appreciated.

It is possible that the card is toast,
that is the final transistor might be toasted.

This is 2006 model, right? So roughly 2 years old?

PCI Power Output

Marko,

Yes, it's the 2006 Model with RDS Daughterboard. Roughly two years old. Ouch! I hate to hear that it may be fried.

What do you recommend? Can it be repaired? Cost vs. Replacement, etc?
Any advice appreciated. With the exchange rate these days, I really can't justify spending $300 US Dollars or more if the RDS is toast as well.

Any way to replace the final transistor and make the repair here? I'm pretty good with a soldering iron.

You can try, I'd be happy to send you a replacement.

Email me directly with a detailed photo of the unit and we'll see
what can be done. We do our best to try and help whenever it is
possible.

Problem with PCI Max Follow Up

Post by lowga »

Removed the faulty PCI Max card from the computer, and inspected the final amp (under the heat sink). No visible problems with the card at all. Reinstalled on another machine, but still have the same issues.

It looks like I need some repair work! Can I send the card back to you for repair? Postal mailing address, please? Also can I pay for the repairs using a credit card or Paypal?

Lastly, any idea on the turn-around time? Thanks again...
