Question about Max Pro I

Post by sgarringer »

Hello, I have the Max Pro I FM transmitter. Recently, we had a storm blow throw, which took out the antenna feedline to the transmitter. As such, it was running for several hours without an antenna connected (or worse yet, antenna shorted to ground, the wire was pulled apart). I have repaired the damage, but now when connected to the antenna, the power output is very low. Checking the voltage on the Pro II module, it appears to read 0 volts. I am wondering if it is possible to have damaged the final transistor? If so, can you please let me know what type of replacement transistor (I assume its T3) to order? Thanks very much.

Yep, it is possible. The output transistor is 2SC1971.

On the other hand it may be time to upgrade to max pro 3+, especially
with halloween rebate:

Thats a really sweet offer, but I found a replacement transistor for $10 locally this morning. We're running this station on a shoe-string budget, and would like to add an amp (we don't even have a stereo encoder yet) hoping that by getting the greater coverage that 100w would offer we may be able to get an additional local sponsor or two.

Our real goal was eventually to go AM, but it doesn't appear thats going to be possible, with the cost of AM transmitters what they are... We'd have great soil for AM, too. Live in Iowa (Midwest USA) and are only about 1 or 2 km from a creek and about 5km from a rather large river...

Santa might bring you something nice this year, wait and see.

E-mail me directly, we may have some old stereo encoder lying around.
