Why is j pole so widely use by pirates?
What are the benefits if any over the other antennas?
some say it`s the best .....
i just read some old post on anither site , they claim this is the best, it was an old post from 2003.

The best depends on what you want.

For directional antenna the best would be a huge dish antenna, some 1Km radius.
Or better yet make that 10Km, the more the better.

Or 32-bay vertical dipoles for omni-directional.

A sensible question is:

What's the best antenna for given:
- radiation pattern
- power handling
- price
- size
- wind resistance
- frequency band etc etc
