Updated LCD control module

Post by pcs »

http://www.pcs-electronics.com/software ... v40_en.pdf

This update affects all products using LCD display. It is more of a cosmetic fix than anything else, but the
manual was updated as well to make it more user-friendly. The tips section should be helpful for any
"hackers" out there.

Anyone with too much time on their hands willing to translate this into other languages should
contact me (spanish, german, portuguese, dutch would be appreciated).
Best regards,

OK what have you got for me.
I have LCD board v30 5/2006. The R3 on this board is omitted along with RFC1, T1, which is on the output of CD4040 obviously nothing to do with the contrast. As you know pin 3 is used on the the HD 44780 but for me to follow it back, splitting the boards wasn't worth the effort as you can tell me which to change. Also, can I safely lower the 56ohm R1 to increase the back light? P.S Does the Buzzer do anything?

On your board (v30) you need to change R6.

Buzzer buzzes, you can increase volume by lowering R4 to 220 ohms.
Also make sure to remove the sticker on the top of the buzzer.

I do not recommend exagerating with backlight, but it should take 33 ohms.
I think its quite visible as it is.

As this LCD modules works with many products I can'b be sure whether
it buzzes in yours. It certainly buzzes in MAX PRO 3 and 4.

Ok I have a maxpro3+ what conditions does it buzz under? Does it mimic the red LED? Does the buzzer sound when the PLL is out of lock, and when the RF is muted etc?

R4 is 1k. I see from the manual it is marked as 150ohm. When would the buzzer normally sound. can I create the condition to test to see if it works?
