Post MP3+ intermittant signal loss -- 1 min on; 45 seconds off.. Reply with quote
Strange problem: Unit will transmit correctly for excactly 60 seconds, and then stop transmitting for 45 seconds, then on again for 1 min, off for 45 secs, repeat, etc..

Can anyone think of an idea why this might be happening?

thank you,
robert

I think I may have found the issue. I had it placed in a 2U rack enclosure and I think it was overheating. I removed it from the case and it seems ok now.

yeah!

Set the temp protection trimmer a bit higher.

A small fan is recommended for peace of mind. Put it back in the box with the fan.

I followed your directions except for replacing it into the 2U enclosure. I left it outside the box as a percaution. The unit worked perfectly for a couple of days and then stopped. When I inspected it, I found the following damage.

Here is a picture of the TEMP and SWR trims. They were both at 12:00 when I received the unit, I moved them both slightly to try to solve the above problem.

Now what? How can I get this repaired?

thanks!
robert

It MUST be placed in a METAL enclosure, this is how the heat is dissipated. No enclosure = overheating = eventual death.
A small CPU type 40x40 fan is also recommended, although you should be safe without it.

This is also clearly stated in the instructions as well, by the way.

I meant, I didn't return the complete (assembled) unit into my 2U rack. The damaged occured while the unit was fully assembled in its metal enclosure which has a working fan in it.
