A small queston....

Post by Davey C »

Im very interested in the 700watts amp. But I dont fancy buying a driver, looky enogh I happen to have two 1 watt boards im my hands, the first being at 1watt and *Ads not allowed* 1 Watt board. My question can I use either of these boards to drive the 700watt amp? Same go'se for the 300 watt. Once again very interested. Also do amps need to be tuned? Either a 10,15,30 or 100 watt amp?

And if the answer is no, to the one watt driving the 700 watt amp then could and *Ads not allowed* 4 watt board do the job? Also is the 700 watt amp, varable from 0-700watts?

Cheers
Dave....

Almost all amps take 1W happily and work nicely with that power.
No tuning necessary.

The 750W pallet amp takes at least 15W so it takes at least
MAX PRO III to drive it.

Rite im so confussed here! How do you connect the one watt board to the 300 watt amp? Also what drive is the 150 watt? Do you lose much power when the aerial is tuned to 93.2 and the tx is tuned to 94.4?

PCS mate can you tell me if this will work?

None? I tested a little bit using my SWR meter and the signal had a significant increase in SWR with only a slight change of the frequency.

Nothing more than 16 watts. It seemed that there was just a higher SWR and not really much power loss, like what Marko said.

Cabling, power and antenna all make a different on SWR. If you have a meter (they're very handy to get) you'll be able to test if you can change your frequency without a re-tune of the antenna.

This really depends on antenna type used.

A reasonably wideband antenna will exhibit no
detectable difference, a narrowband antenna will
exhibit some difference.

With other words, if you're into radio, you HAVE TO
get a SWR meter (not CB type) and not just guess
what the SWR might be.

Even an antenna tuned at a shop will exhibit different
SWR on the roof.

Rite one other question. Where do you plug the 1 watt booster into the amp and where is the output to the aerial? I read the manual and it showed me. But em... How to do connect it together?
