newbie questions again: output, antenna

Post by zurn »

Hi there,

Still just wondering if someone can explain adjusting the output power on my PCIMAX. That is, when i adjust the slider i don't perceive any difference at all. Shouldn't i be able to hear some difference?

Also, i bought a simple pair of rabbit ears to improve reception a bit, but the cable is very short. I happen to have some coax to extend it with, but when i use the extension, the signal has a tone on it--a kind of wavering sound almost like a modem.

I have to put the connectors on the cable myself, so i might have screwed that up--i need to check that, but is there anything else i should try to check?

Thanks for any advice,
steve

Those rabit ears are for TV, right?

Correct--is that not good?

It seemed to work fine by itself, tho. It's only with the extension that there seems to be a problem.

It does seem to, but it doesn't seem to improve my reception that well. Guess that's why huh? :D

I thought i read about doing that somewhere here, but perhaps not. I was just looking for a frugal way to help make it easier to get reception a little further away....which leads me back to my output power question...
