Just got PCI Max 2005 a couple weeks ago. I have eliminated most of the background noise problem an external sound card and power source. However, I still have distortion and crackling on high pitch or high intensity music elements - like vocal "s" sounds. This just isn't going to work, I need better quality. Based on reviewing this forum, it looks as though a stereo encoder may be able to solve the problem?
Looking for a cost effective way to eliminate this problem. I just want to transmit through my own house and yard (up to 200 yards). I'm not your average idiot but I'm far from a wiz when it comes to radio and broadcasting - so please go easy on me with the techy lingo
Which encoder software (again, personal use - don't want to overpay for overkill)? What settings (again, radio/broadcasting challenged - the more specific the better)? Or if the encoder is not the answer, what is?
GREATLY appreciate the input. Happy holidays!
Distortion problem, need encoder?

I found, that if you decrease the 8khz slider on your windows media player, or winamp, the 'S' sound will go away. It worked on my PCI Max. Audio sound was not compromised. Maybe this will help
Exactly.
1.) You should not overmodulate, a built in limiter in 2005 helps
a bit, but excessive overmodulation on peaks (trying to make your
station sound too loud) will sound bad
2.) In EQ (most sound cards have this) set the last slider a bit lower.
FM standard doesn't allow content above 15KHz or so. MP3 players
and windows media players also have these EQ controls
3.) It is great to have winamp plugin rocksteady or standalone solution
such as MBL4, these really are good.
