New PCI MAX 2004 card

Post by hhaken »

I have received the new PCI card, and had some problem with the installation program. It does not work the first time.
I have figured out that you first have to install the OLD installation driver/program (PCI MAX) and after that install the new 2004 driver/program.

BTW: It is installed on a Windows XP Pro machine.

Than it works!

Second problem is i can't figure out how to connect the RDS max 2 card to this new 2004 card. The PCB layout is different, and i have no idea were to connect the wires to......

Can anybody help me???

Thanks in advance

If you e-mail me the digital up-close pic of the board,
I'll mark the spots for you.

Use the email you find here:

I'm not posting an actual link to avoid spam harvesters.

If you really want to avoid spammers. You need to hide everyone's email address. That way you can't see someone's address when you click to email them. I'm not sure how you can do this, but I have seen it on other phpbb boards.

You can set that in your profile when you register. Did you know that?

I have send a picture to the info@..... email address.

Hope to get it back soon :-), so i can hook up the RDS coder to the PCI card.

There is one other thing about the PCI card..... i can not change the frequency in steps of 50Khz. What is wrong here?

Thanks alot,

Greets

That is strange because the website says:
Optional external power supply
50 kHz PLL steps 87.5-108 MHz (full coverage)
Digital stereo encoder on board!
Precise preemphasis on board!
And where can i connect the external power supply?

Excuse the many questions but the card came with
no installation guide at all. Only one driver cd.

Hi!

The PCI MAX 2004 is a brand new card, still warm from
the development lab. The installation guide is the same as
for the PCI MAX ULTRA, so you can download the guide from
the web. (Support at the top). The external power supply is no
longer needed as the built-in DC/DC converter eliminates the
noise.

So what does this mean when you say "precise preemphasis?" What is the default? 50us, 75us? Also, do you have a limiter to prevent the sharp peaks from overmodulating?

There are two models, 50 and 75uS.

The peaks are handled via winamp plugins or SAM2
engine.

Is that part of the new PCI Max program? Or are you saying that-just like before-you do it through Winamp with third party plugins?

Its still part of winamp or any similar program.

SAM 2 and many other scheduling programs have their plugins.

Hey, you can also use MLB4 and use any audio source than.

Also, the stereo encoder itself has been improved a lot
so it will sound better as it is, without any plugins.

Yeah, I use MBL4. It's fine, I'm just am not to crazy about how it controls the preemphasis.

You don't need preemphasis anymore since it is now in hardware.
