MAX PRO 3000+ heard +600khz

Post by OgreVorbis »

I noticed when I am within about a 1000ft (305 meter) range of the transmitter, I can hear it +600khz from the frequency it's set to. It even jams some other stations. If I move even farther, the problem decreases. I'm only running it at 10 watts and plan to use an amplifier with it. I'm a little worried that when I use it with an amplifier, these spurious signals will increase. Is this normal? I noticed that if I use a BH IC based stereo encoder, it's not nearly as bad, but the sound quality is bad compared to the SE2000+. It should be limited to 75Khz, so what causes these signals? Any way to reduce this?

Move close to any FM transmitter and you will experience the same. Go to the antenna tower of your local radio station, this effect can be experienced even 1 km or more from it depending on their power.

Receivers don't handle strong signal very well.
