How is the deviation set/adjusted when using the pci transmitter....... ???

As far as audio is concerned, you can increase/decrease audio laudness.
If you're looking to change stereo pilot level, it can be changed by replacing a resistor on board, but I don't see what benefit could be accomplished with this.

i know that that the magnitude of the audio input controls the deviation..... my question is what should the deviation be and how can i tell when it is correct given the pci card does not have a VU meter and the software does not provide deviation information ??

You should sound about the same loudness or slightly less laud than other stations.
Why slightly less? Because they use expensive multi-band audio processors that cost lots of money and you don't.

This definitely helps, with this program you should sound about as loud as other stations or only slightly less.
