Fan for transmitter

Post by krushfm »

I want to use a 500watts transmitter for my small station but will like to know if it is a force to use Air condition for cooling it or i can use a normal fan placed closer to the transmitter. Your advice is needed.

Thank you

Make sure your swr is low and that ambient temperature is reasonably low.

For example, in the summer place your transmitter in air-conditioned room and you'll be ok.

Marko,

Thanks for the insight. My antenna has already been tuned to its frequency (89.1 Mhz). Do i still need to use the SWR to check it when powering the transmitter. I have the Dominator antenna tuned to my frequency.

Thanks once again.

Factory tuning should be checked after installing antenna in place. Depending on exact location and nearby metal objects etc the tuning may differ slightly.
