Improvement of the AM TX:es to comply to DRM

Post by marek »

Why not make it possible to adjust the bandwidth so that one can choose between, 9, 10 and 20 kHz for example. Plus maybe other modifications making it possible to transmit in DRM. The software exists and works hence most users can already have a content server. It's just the transmitters missing...

Hey, the AM TX has 1KHz pll step so you can set it to any
frequency.

The audio bandwidth can also be selected, 3300Hz, 4500Hz,
7500Hz or not limited. This is what DSP makes so much easier
to do.

Now that makes things much more interesting. This would mean that if running a content server and the TX together the AM Max would be quite interesting for DRM transmissions?

Well, I'm going for a SW tx quite soon. I'm going to use it as a DRM link of the station to a cable headend in a city. The cable covers around 300000 habitants so it would mean a great boost. Any suggestions on which would be best (cheapest alternative of course) or should I wait till next year when the "secrets" are revealed? :)

Well, I read in some other thread that there would come something new in 2007.

There will be something new, indeed. Perhaps even before 2007.

DRM? Don't think so.

It will still be a AM/CW transmitter, maybe also FM, but that's it.

I have no idea about DRM. Probably not, maybe yes, who knows.
