FM100B

Post by Copilot »

I would like to upgrade the 100B to 1 watt. I called ramsey and was told the kit runs 80$. So i did some checking and found that the parts to do this cost about 10$. My concern is that the MRF557 RF transistor is rated between 800-880 Mhz. Could someone explain how this works at 88-108 Mhz

Thanks
Jim

Ramsey toys use the BA chip, which produces nasty spurs
in the audio spectrum. They may sound good, but look at it on
a spectrum analyzer and you'll see lots of spurs close to the carrier.

This is not something you can filter out as it is very close to the carrier.

This makes it very dangerous to amplify any of these devices, you will
likely radiate into close-by channels and you may get in trouble.

Those chips were designed for immediate local area use (a few meters)
and are perfect for that purpose, but NOT FOR BROADCASTING!

You have been warned!
