I have had a PCI Max 2005 since 2006, and it has worked great until my computer was restarted the other day. It is running WinXP SP2.
I have had this problem a number of times in the past, and I usually just have to install the first set of PCI Max 2007 drivers, than install PCI Max 2005 over it, and it works great.
It keeps giving me the error of Unable to open PCI Max, failed locking device.
I have installed the drivers successfully in the device manager, using both PCI Max 2005 and 2007 drivers. I have tried the latest release of drivers, using the uninstall and install bat scripts, no luck. I have gone through the registry, looking for any references to PCIMax, and removing them before trying to reinstall.
It looks like the card is getting installed correctly in the device manager, just not syncing up with the actual PCIMax.exe program.
Any suggestions? I know the card is old, but it works great for me when I can get it to work. I know it will probably work if I reformat the computer, but I really don't want to do that unless I have to.
Thanks for any help.

It really is time to upgrade, final version of 2007+ solves many problems.
You can drop me an email with a hi-res photo of your card.
