PCI Ultra Max 2006 - need software and drivers

Received my pci ultra max 14 Dec without software and drivers. A CD did accompany the card. However, the CD only included documentation for the various PCI Electonics products. Decided to wait until 16 Dec to download both software and drivers. However, neither is available on PCI's website. The link for the software package leads to a documentation page. Can the software/driver package be emailed to me? My email address is sparks239436^at^comcast)dot(net

Cancel my previous request for software and drivers for the pci ultra max 2006. The link for pci max 2005 software worked and am using that software and driver with no problems. Will wait and update when the new drivers are finally available.

Unfortunately I am less patient than the previous forum poster... I want things Nowwwwwwww! :P But seriously, I guess I have to wait...

Anyone have any word on the new PCIMAX 2006 Software?

I tried a couple different filenames on the download link - like droping the "_en" or "http://www.pcs-electronics.com/software ... Dimage.zip" to no avail.

Just use 2005 for now.

The file is not there yet for 2006 so don't even try :)

2005 software not working

I tried most of the 2005 drivers and I know the card is installed right because it recognizes the Junga card but when I launch the software I can still not get the tuner on my stereo to find the signal.

Does the light on the card light up when the power is suppose to be on? If so I never see the light come on. What can I be doing wrong?

Can someone tell me exactly what driver from the software page to load? I tried several but still the same thing.

Please advise! I just the bought the card and have not been able to get it to work.

For the light to light up push the power slider up.
You can only do this with 2005 driver, I think, it
is not supported in older versions.

I have tried the power switch and also in SAM3. Software indicates that it should be on but it is not.

Thoughts? Should I stick with the PCI 2005/RDS software?

SAM2 does not support 2006, it did not exist at the time
SAM2 was released.

Your best bet is 2005 driver.

The new 2005 card sounds great!

I am wondering why I only get 10 watts from my 15w booster. I've tried various settings on the power adjustment within the 2004 v.2 drivers but that doesn't help. Also is there an easy way to tell if I have a 1 watt or xx. milliwatt version of the card?

Are you using external power supply?

I am now and things are working. :D

How can it be able to output 1w? Is it just based on what extra power it gets? I'm feeding the PCI max 14v of power and although it helps the card drive the booster properly, it doesn't seem to be the max that the xmitter could output.

Can you make a few observations for everyone here including
me, how does audio compare to 2005 in your opinion.

Noisy?

Audio quality?

Overall, do you think it is noticeably better?

Any comments?

WAY better than before.

The old Ultra and 2004 had noisy audio and ringing noises on deep bass notes.

The 2005 had cleaner audio and no bass ringing, but had incorrect preemphasis settings, making the audio sound strange.

With the 2006 I turned my volume on my radio up very high and on a quiet passage of a song (not easy to find when you play dance music!) I only heard a slight humming noise. Whilst a louder part of a song is playing I can't hear this noise.

The layout of the card is better too. I like not having to run a cable inside my computer just for external power; instead it's next to the other plugs.

Only minor issue was getting the card in its slot. I easily figured it out, but for some reason mine needed a little extra nudge and others might not know that.

The audio is very clean when set at low level.

The base response is little absent, too much treble.

Is there an app for Windows XP that allows base/treble adjustment for general streaming audio?

BTW...How's that 2006 driver coming?

Yep, usually you have EQ for sound card and another one
for Winamp or media player for example. Just push bass
up a bit.

Regarding driver, it will in no way change your current operation.
The audio will be exactly the same, so will everything else.

The only difference will be the number, it'll say 2005 instead of
2006 :)

everytime if i started up the computer and i will use the pci max it says that it's not been found and try another slot.
if i remove the software (2004 because 2005 didnt work) and then re-install it and reboot the computer then it works... and then if i take the power off from the pci max and will retry then it says that the card is not found.
it's the same if i reboot the computer..

so please upload some good installation drivers!
because this really sucks [-X

I finally have the card (2006) working with the 2005 drivers. During the setup of the software it looks for the winsysdrv.sys file but it cannot find it, so I hot cancel to stop the install on XP and the card works regardless of this. I guess I never thought to try the card after this error of looking for this driver.

When do you anticipate the 2006 driver to be available? You might want to update your web site from Dec 16th and it will save everyone the hassle.

It also works with SAM3 as long as you luanch the RDS software first and then SAM3. Do not "window" the ultra card from sam but as long as you have the RDS minmized it works.

Question though! I have 128KB MP3 files and their is a slight buzz noise on the frequency tune in when listening. If I use a CD Audio it sounds great. Is there a special codec to use for MP3's to sound good or does it always have a slight buzz on MP3 playbacks?

Great card and I might ven boost it up a bit in the future but want to get the basics working first.

Happy Holidays everyone!

If there's a buzz from the transmitter, it might be more noticeable if you have the audio level lower on certain songs. Otherwise it doesn't matter what you're playing. Try the Winamp Sound Solution plugin. It adjusts the audio level to be more consistent on songs.
