Exterminator and ice

Post by RQL »

Hello, does anybody know if is it possible to put some heating sistem,on Exterminator antenna, against ice?
I'm using a low power transmitter,so it won't heat the antenna at all.

I'm thinking at some kind of heating wire, but I don't know if it may affect tuning.

Thanks a lot

Hi,

you can put heating cable below the "head", that is below the point where you connect the cable. The entire aluminum tube would be heated eliminating any danger of ice.

Just wrap it around the tube. Heating power depends on how cold it gets I suppose :)

A powerful transmitter can melt it off by itself indeed :)
