MAX PRO 3000+ Low Volume Audio

Post by silversid »

Hi all,

I very recently purchased a MAX PRO 3000+ which I have now boxed.

The problem seems that the audio volume is very very low. As per the instructions I have adjusted the Audio Level pot, and we have sound processing at the studio and still we are very quiet. I am unable to increase the volume up on the link device any further.

How can I make us louder? Am I missing something?

Kind regards,

Sid.

How did you set the pre-emphasize jumper?

Set it to NONE and you will sound much lauder.

Are you using stereo encoder or not?

Hi thanks for your quick reply. I'm not using a stereo encoder and I have the Pre-emphasis set to 50uS.

I will try the jumper set to NONE and see how we sound.

Thanks again.

I recommend that you get the stereo encoder, the SE2000 is so cheap its really no problem.

Its a great value since it has USB audio input and also very sharp low pass audio filters.

Hello again. Thanks for your advice. Selecting NONE I am now able to increase the audio level, it was just far too quiet before.

Further to your post above, I have looked at purchasing the stereo encoder you suggested.
If used with the MAX Pro 3000+ and use the Pre-emphasis jumper set for my country (50us) will the audio be quiet as before I changed the Jumper?

Also. Does stereo affect the transmitting range?

Many thanks. Sid.

Hi,

when using stereo encoder you have to set pre-emphasis on MAX PRO 3000 exciter board to "NONE".

The pre-emphasis will than be processed by stereo encoder so set it there to either to 50 or 75uS.

Stereo encoder has output buffer and supplies more than is really needed so do not fear low audio level.

Decoding stereo signal on the receiving side requires stronger signal so stereo signal has a bit less range.

Keep in mind you can set stereo encoder to mono and still enjoy the benefits of low pass filtering, limiter,
pre-emphasis, balanced audio inputs and USB audio inputs that the encoder provides.
