The Boonton 8210 as shipped only permits recovered audio signal bandwidth of up to 15 kHz (30 kHz with option 01) to be considered when measuring peak deviation, making it less than perfect for monitoring an FM stereo modulated signal. However the instrument can be configured to deliver a wider band, 60 kHz low pass filtered, AF signal to the peak amplitude (deviation) detector, making it perfect for measuring modulation levels of a stereo encoded signal with it's 20 Hz to 53 kHz bandwidth.
I modified mine shortly after receiving it and tracking down the proper jumper which is soldered in place. The jumper's location and settings are not particularly well documented, so to assist others I have finally gotten around to documenting the process.
Lookee here for a narrative and photos...
PS: I just now added a photo of the modifications needed to change the 750 uS de-emphasis to 75 or 50 uS.
