New ISOTRON

I have now completed a new Isotron for the lower part of the MW band on a 160mm PVC waste-pipe. The pipe is 6 meters height and the distance between the two cap hats is 5 meters. I wound 160 turns of 1.5 mm plastic insulated copper cable. This unit resonates around 520 kHz. I tried with 15 watts on ...

Home Brew ISOTRON

Hi there all AM enthusiasts. Today I completed my "do it yourself" Isotron with various results. My first Isotron is built with a 3 meters PVC drain-pipe with a diameter of 63 mm. I use a pair of "chicken-fence-net" (Excuse my English) capacitor hats with a size of 300x600 mm. Th...

Re: One Thing I Forgot To Mention...

:D The antenna can show quite a bit of reactance. The Isotron has a characteristic impedance of 20-200 Ohms depending on environment. This obviously can cause a mismatch to a 50 ohm transmitter. At 25 ohm load impedance = 2.0 SWR At 50 ohm load impedance = 1.1 SWR At 100 ohm load impedance = 2.0 SW...

Re: Isotron Performance Report Part I

:D The Isotron is a real antenna, not a dummy load as some would suggest. Working with the Isotron 200B antenna is quite a learning experience however. If you remember my previous post, I was lamenting about the Isotron’s touchy tuning. First let me say it is a narrow band device and it can be quit...

Got my AM MAX 2 today

Got my AM MAX 2 today in the 19 inch box. Unfortunately I did not know about you and bought it from one of the re-sellers under another name. I had no idea that under the hood, it was PCS Elektroniks board. In fact, when looking for AM transmitters on the Internet, your site did not even come up :-(...
