first, If you burned the output transistor, I think you should replace it with an ECG342 (C1971), not an ECG142

100 mW answer to your first question.

Get your antenna 40 to 50 feet high, use 2 to 5 watts, use 9913 coax, and you will have the car radio range you desire.

Hope this helps. :)

Depending on where you live, get a Radio Shack or similar power supply that can supply the 3 amps on a regulated continuous basis. Switched mode power supplies are nortoriously noisy as thoe who used the first generation of PCI transmitters discovered.
Hope this helps. :)

Trust the advice here! First, you will most likely hear your station on several spots on the FM dial. Mostly distorted. Not good. Now this should tell you that you will be radiating below FM radio into the TV bands, and above FM radio in the cable TV and aircraft frequencies. Trust me, within a day,...

Still Have Lots of Noise.

As per Marko, I changed the audio card, hiss is gone. Now I have the same noise everyone else is hearing. In fact with no audio driving the card, the FM deviation is 12KHZ which is unusable. The noise is on the buss as it changes with processor activity. I've disconnected and removed everything not ...

Just received the PCI Max in Dade City, FL
Running it at 20mw so not to incurr the wrath of the FCC just 30 miles down the road. Working out some audio level issues with Marko, but I think they can easily be resolved.

The board is very nicely comstructed, stereo seperation is excellant.

I have a hiss in the background that sounds like multiplex noise, but it's not. When I disabled the WAVE control in Windows Control Panel, the noise abruptly stopped. If I unplug the audio from the card the noise goes away as well. I've emailed Marko for a more detailed solution.
