28V 40A PSU

I recently obtained a 330watt linear FM amp to use with my transmitter. I need to build a 28V psu to run at about 40A in order to power my amp. I have thought of using multiple 2n3055 transistors to regulate the output, but I am finding it hard to find a circuit for the PSU. Anyone any ideas (or ci...

You can buy some wireless mic's on EBAY pretty cheap. Maybe one of these could be modified to be used for an earpiece with a simple pre-amp..??...

Pirate Radio

Hi, we (myself and a few other people) are setting up a priate radio station some time in the not to distant future. I would like to hear about any experience you have with pirate radio whether good, bad or indifferent. The equipment used and the way people go about it. The main reason I want to fi...

I have seen the transmitter, but it runs on 230v so therefore would not be good for mobile use.

Hi Sir Nigel, I'm not sure about PCS selling a 50w booster. I have looked at their web site in detail and have not come across one (the most powerful i have found on their site is 20w), but they do have schematics for a sort of universal booster that basically you put in the transistor of your choi...

Wack out a nice 40watt booster in both ready built and also kit form. I really do think that they might sell - if the price is right. People that want to transmit around their neighbourhood would only choose 1-2w, if anyone wants to transmit further than that they would probably want to go as far a...

Veronica 5WTX VCO unstability

Hi, I have a Veronica 5WTX (5watt FM Transmitter) tuned to 106.2MHz. For some reason every time I power it up the output frequency drifts just a tiny little bit and I have to adjust the VCO trimmer nearly every time. After about 5 minutes or so it seems to be stable. I have fitted a better heatsink...

Personally I like the slim jim design. I have built a few different antennas (i'm not fantastic at it, but can follow guides and make calculations etc and if you can do it, it is far cheaper than purchasing one). I have built a dipole, stacked dipole (this was a knightmare to tune and eventually I ...

:D :D :D :D I tuned my antenna (well checked it anyway and luckily it didn't need tuning at all!!) SWR at 1:1.1 :D :D :D Not bad I thought for a homebrew antenna. Well, got the ole ladders out, climbed the back of the house, dropped me pole, shoved me antenna on the top, stuck it back up in the air,...

Its all to do with 0's and 1's.... Its really boring stuff and I really can not be bothered to explain. But i will say this... if you are not familiar with base 2, base 7 or base 16 then dont even bother to try and grasp the concept of this as it will just confuse you. People in the early days had ...

:D Its not hard to tune an antenna, provided that you have a SWR meter (and not an old CB one - has to be the right frequency for the transmitter which i presure is 88-108MHz) and also provided that the antenna IS tunable. Some people make antennas and whilst in the construction they purposley const...

Wicked antenna that packs a punch for about £10

:D The other day I built an antenna from plans on the net. It's pretty wicked, I got about 2 miles with the antenna just sat on a tripod in my back garden (still untuned) :o running about 4 watts. I will let you know what it is like when I get it tuned and on the 30ft pole at the back of me house. :...
