Searching for an aerial
Hi Currently I have a dipole in the loft cut to my chousen frequency and with a balun. The aerial is duel purpose, in that when i'm not transmitting throught it i'm using it to recieve. Obviously with it been cut reception is poorer at the opposite end of the band. When transmitting I have to use ar...

change in swr with move of the aerial
I have manged to get my dipole aerial higher up but reception is much reduced. The aerial was placed very close to a chimney breast and it seems that it is that which was effecting the reception, effectly reducing the power of the signal by half. When I moved to aerial away everything worked fine ag...

cable is quoted at 8.5db at 100meters, i'm presuming thats is 0.85db at 10 meters, there was a cable with a loss of 2db at 10meters that would obviously loose some of the signal because theres over a db in difference between the 2, but if the difference was just 0.2 of a db a fraction of a db would ...

any difference in cables using lower power?
I'm using quite low power, would there any difference, if you picked out a 75ohm and 50ohm cable with simliar loses and cut them both to the same lenght would there really be any difference in the signal?. I am currently using about 500mw and a dipole aerial with 75 ohm co-ax, strong reception reach...

Formula for working out dipole elements
In the example 88.0Mhz is used, each element works out at around 30 inches in long.
A simple easy and effective way to cut dipole elements.
300 divided by 88.0= 3.40
3.40 divided by 2= 1.70
1.70 multiplied by 0.895=1.52
1.52 multiplied by 39.3=59.95
59.95 divided by 2=29.97 inches
