Radio waves tend to keep going till one of three things happen: 1) They hit the radio horizon; in your case 1.415 x sqr ( 15 x 3.281 ) x 1.609 = 15.97207088 Km Lets call it 16 Km. If you want to play around the formula for Excel is: =(1.415*(SQRT(15*3.281)))*1.609 It's from Wikipedia: http://en.wiki...

UHF DVB-T TX ?

Any plans for a UHF DVB-T TX ? They exist already as kits or PCI but EUR 1,000 - 2,000+ just for a basic 1mW unit eek ... Not exactly hobby pricing. Most countries are in the midst of an analogue to digital change over right now, I would imagine in not so many years analogue TV will be history. ... ...

Re: 3W VHF tv transmitter

Well, I just had a chance to chat with one of the users of TV MAX 2000+. I was surprised to find he is getting 6km of range (with still good signal) with his portable ICOM receiver. I thought it would be less for 3W of power. I tried to get some hard specs on the IC-R3 (I assume that's the Icom in ...

You need to remember, your range much above 30 Mhz is more a factor of your Hight Over Average Terrain than TX power, this is known as the radio horizon. To get 40 Km at VHF/UHF, your formula is 1.451 x ( SQR (mast in meters / 0.3048) ) * 1.60943 = range in Km ... In Excel it looks like this: =(1.45...
