OK, one more then I'm done... [snip] at 1/4 λ and 5/8 λ--the results are interesting and although pefromed for the 2 meter ("146 MHz") band they remain relevant at 3 meters. The bottom line is that for high mounted antennas the 5/8 λ has very little practical ad...

Re: radiation

hahaha yea When the transmitter is at its full power you can feel the induction in your body. Thats why I have the stay 3 feet away from the window rule when someone visits. (I try to keep it down to about half a watt) but sometimes I get a little on the adventure side and crank it up  Beautif...

Re: Earthing

Can anyone explain how i can earth a Half Wave Open Dipole Antenna.. Is there a (rational and affordable) way to protect the transmiter in case lightening hits the antenna? Regards I live in a very heavy lightning area. We switch the exciter into a dummy load if Lightning is closer than 2 or 3 km. ...

looking to buy older ISA PC-MAX Card

I need an ISA version of the older PC MAX card. Ideally the last of them before Marko went to PCI based cards, they could work with the linux driver or the windoze driver. Please leave me a message if you are looking to upgrade your station and no longer need the older card. I promise to give it a g...

RE: A WIFI mp3 stream Receiver! Inexpensive 1 way LINK!

:D Handsome little radio...Where do you buy one? There are radios that are coming out commercially in about 6 months. The developer kit which includes one board and lcd display, power supply and documents is a bit steep at $1,500.00 Cheap if you are making 1,000,000 to 10,000,000 radios. Not so che...

do you tune this antenna the same way you tune the 5/8 antenna or is it set at the same frequency for good... Pretty much for good. That is why you do an open frequency search first! You could rewire it with out too much hassle. The slim jim antennas are good for over one mhz either side of where t...

HIGH GAIN 3/4 wave FM omnidirectional antenna, another view

In terms of money spent, you CAN get out FARTHER WITH LESS. - DEPENDS ON HOW YOU DO IT. The antenna is the place where you will get the most bang for your buck, IF you know how to bang. It's not the size of the hammer, it's the technique of the Carpenter :) Lets say you have 200.00 to spend on anten...

>Which antenna provides the best performance for a non-directional application under >100w ERP? Considering, a 5/8 wave vs a single or dual dipole type. Marko is correct on the match. both RG-8 and RG-58 are 50 ohm cables. If you are running more than 25 feet from the amp to the antenna, you are loosing some of the power that could be running out the antenna instead of the heat generated by the high relative loss that RG-58 gives you at 100 mhz. You...

If you mean a low pass filter, I think that's a necessary "option"

I would like a low pass external filter that is tunable. E F Johnson used to make a
tunable filter that worked very well.
