Lightening Protection

Post by gamevision »

After we erected the Antenna for the community radio station in Malta I started to be concerned about the possibility of it being hit by lightening. This due to the fact that it is in a very high position. Is there any way to prevent lightening from strucking the antenna thus preventing severe damage?

Thanks
Andre`

Not unless your Name is JESUS!
Lighting hits everything.
It's the equipment that deverts the AMPS back to ground.
We use what is called a poly phaser but your also speaking of a lot of money.
A really good ground is needed and several is ideal.
Disconnect the coax and ground it to one of the rods.
You may still lose the antenna but the station will be disconnected and safe.
