center tap transformer one from two?

Post by Miles »

Would it be possible to construct a center tap transformer from two identical ones. I know this sounds cheap but the center tap I had from rat shack just died and I was working on a dual polarity supply to run a sound processor I wanted to build. I thought I could take one lead from each and put them together for the center but would they need to be in phase? As well, there is a .07 volt difference between the two, this may cause the tap to not be "centered enough. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Sorry for the confusion, the two transformers I spoke of are regular chassis mount single out style-no center tap. Hope that clears thing up.
