HELP! Quick Soldering assistance needed - SE5000DSP

Post by quexal »

Hello,
I'm trying to connect up my SE5000 DSP to my Maxpro 2000 exciter.

All I need to know is where the ground should be for the MPX-out connection.

If you take a look at the image at: http://www.pcs-electronics.com/phpBB2/v ... =9215#9215

You'll see that there are 5 holes (soldering points) labeled "MPX-out".

My question is: Is the center hole the ground?

Currently I've soldered the ground wire in the center hole, and the audio cable in the hole under the label "out".

I'm getting no output to the exciter board in this configuration. What have I done wrong??

Thanks,
MG.

DOH: I found the answer to my own question

Ok... well.. just after I asked this question, I decided to pull the board out entirely and check the printed back of it.

Lo and behold, the center solder pad (hole) is the MPX-out, and the 4 holes around it are ALL grounds!

Switched the wires, and now it's working like a champ... sounds excellent as well!

Whenever in doubt, pull out an ohm meter. Those pads that are reading
zero ohms to ground are obviously ground :)

And as you see those 4 pads with center pad are designed to take some
kind of connector and connectors center contact is, well, always in the center.
And ground are the 4 pads around it.
